No matter what the country or language, parents all across the world must find ways to get their children to sleep each night. Asian Dreamland offers soothing and musically intriguing songs from countries as diverse as Japan, China, India and even the Siberian republic of Tatarstan. This harmonious collection of tranquil songs is perfect for yoga and meditation, as well as putting the little ones to sleep. Asian Dreamland follows gently in the footsteps of Putumayo Kids' first lullaby collection, Dreamland, one of the best-selling children's and family CDs from the label. Together, these CDs launch a new Dreamland series featuring international music to relax listeners of all ages. Performers include leading artists whose work represents modern interpretations of ancient traditions, such as Shang Shang Typhoon (Japan), the Yoshida Brothers (Japan), Ali Akbar Khan (India), and Lei Qiang (China), as well as lesser known artists such as Kelsang Chukie Tethong , who performs a Tibetan chant, and Zulya (Tatarsan). One can also hear unusual instruments ranging from the armisen, a three-stringed instrument similar to a banjo that came to Japan from China many centuries ago, to the erhu, an ancient Chinese instrument whose origins go back more than a thousand years, and the sarode, an Indian instrument that is similar to the violin. A portion of Putumayo's proceeds from the sale of Asian Dreamland will be donated to Worldwide Orphans Foundation in support of their efforts to enrich the lives and enhance the wellbeing of children living in orphanages throughout Asia and the rest of the world.

[03].Putumayo Presents: Asian Groove
Asian traditions meet contemporary funk, electronica and soul for a musical masala that will spice up any celebration. Putumayo continues its exploration of new directions in world music with Asian Groove, a collection of contemporary songs that owe as much to Bollywood (Indian) film music as they do classic funk, reggae, hip-hop, and electronica. Asian Groove features the latest flavors in bhangra, Indian pop, and cross-cultural fusions that blend East and West. The latest installment in Putumayo's Groove Series follows in the footsteps of the critically acclaimed, best-selling Putumayo albums Arabic Groove and Latin Groove. The common denominator with all of the tracks on Asian Groove is their funkiness. Most have strong influences from R&B, soul, funk, hip-hop and other contemporary urban flavors. As with previous albums in our Groove Series (Arabic Groove and Latin Groove), the tracks on Asian Groove are intended to celebrate the fun, upbeat, cross-cultural innovations of modern world music.
